After decades of urban sophistication, career hopping, and ambitious cocktail swilling, I traded it all for 11th hour parenthood. Apparently you can't just hand in your 2 weeks' notice for this one and there is no vacation..

Helen, I hope you enjoyed it as much the second time. I'm sure that man will never fart again. No second wind for him (sorry, sorry, couldn't resist..)
Tara. That equation is correct. I wish I'd studied algebra more.
Jessica, I am sure your youngest is right, and yes, I'd love that black T-shirt but although I can afford the lolly, $118 was just too much to spend, esp as Marlon Brando is dead. It's uncomfortable to think I was like Four but I don't deny it. Sigh. Even more uncomfortable to think YOUTH IS OVER
Red Shoes, glad I made you laugh, please send Four the bill for any dry cleaning due to coffee accidents! Where does she get these things?
Annette, I hope One is as uninterested as your boy. I can't take any more, I really can't.
Domestic, yes, it is genetic, she's actually way crueler than me. I haven't worked through my issues enough to post on that one yet but I will get to it.
Paradise, Yes, poor man. I think he's done shopping.
Natalie, curious to hear your bf's point of view - is he afraid now? refusing to go shopping where kids are around? or just very cautious on the fart front?
Nixdminx, hilarious story about the proposal. Did she say yes? If so I wonder if that will colour their marriage for years to come. Fabulous stuff..
Katherine, we have the same thing going on. I think for me it's because Four looks amazing in everything and is jaw-droppingly beautiful so it's hard not to buy her fab things and let her go to it. I, on the other hand am looking a bit rough around the edges so I'm inclined just to give up and eat M&Ms..

Shopping fatigue....think I suffer from that too...is there are cure? A cure for buying black tops and jeans (although I do like necklaces and bags so there might be a glimmer of hope). Daughter #1 does the dressing thang very, very well...lots of mixing and matching going on there and then shw climbs the nearest tree/high wall/ building and it all kind of goes askew. I think I shop for D#1 very well because I dress/shop for myself so extremely badly; maybe it's a kind of dressing myself by proxy if that makes any sense...she has got some rather nice/mad stuff.

<abbr><em>Katherine’s last blog post..<a href="http://supplyanddemands.blogspot.com/2009/02/coffee-chocolate-and-choices.html" rel="nofollow">coffee, chocolate and choices</a></abbr></em>

Oh my god that is so funny, I can picture it so well! I've had lots of hideous shopping experiences with Miniminx. I was trying on a kaftan in Liberty and as I pulled it down over my rather voluptuous chest, I began to tear it with a loud ripping sound which led to loads of panicked miming between the two of us, in a minuscule changing room. I was silently shouting and simultaneously begging 'Get me the next size up and swap this over without anyone seeing NOW', with a lollipop as the only motivation to do so...I have so say though, she is usually the one that lets rip in public...the worst time was when we were in a restaurant and the man next to us gave his girlfriend a small velvet box, which was opened to reveal a very beautiful ring, while everyone in a 10ft radius was wrinkling their noses and trying not to gag...and she smiled serenely, like only she can...

Honestly, I have tears of laughter rolling down my face! I am in hysterics here - I have to send this to my boyfriend so that he'll be too scared to slip a fart out in public ever again!

Is this the episode where you made a grown man cry? No wait, I guess Four can do it, too. Must be genetic?!
