oh, one more thing…

this reminds me of many lessons that, like you, i want to teach our future children. it’s not all about beauty, and being a good house-keeper!!! speaking of which, i caught a glimpse of this horrible show on cable the other day called “Toddlers & Tiaras.”
I could only wonder how many pedo-s were stroking it in their basement lairs watching this show. 4-year old girls covered in make-up and striking sexy poses in swimsuits. it was SO wrong!!!

i’d love to hear your eloquent take on these “pageants” for these very young girls.

strangely i was a bit intrigued by parts of the story that are so “wrong,” particularly the glass coffin.

Ahhhh the good old tax payers money...kids have to buy their own cut price vodka and chips now. I guess if I had to pay for my education (only a Poly pretending to be a Uni) I would've left school, got a proper job and been far more successful than I am now! I remember protesting against student loans (and poll tax, Thatcher etc), god, I do sound like a communist now... although I'm sure the primary aim was to get filmed by Granada Reports so I could wave to my mum. Maybe, in the final analysis, Disney Princesses should over throw the shackles, turn to revolutionary politics and smash the system. Anarchy in Disneyland!! katherine’s last blog post..Dummy Mummy? What a brilliant analysis of a fairy tale, can’t wait to read your analysis of Cinderella. All these heroines seem to marry the prince the day after they first meet. I don’t think any of them work well in today’s modern world although my 5 year old loves them.

I would ask the magic mirror if it can reverse the aging process. You see, vain after all!

Katherine, I, too, would like to know when my domestic chores are going to be done. Then again I think the answer might be “Never” so perhaps best not to ask. And a big “Oh! So THAT’S what people did at uni while I smoked dope and drew naked ladies at art school!” time and taxpayer’s money well spent all around..
Jessica, there was NO MENTION of any time lapse between 7 and the prince in the Grimm tale.I looked it up. But even so, it’s all very disturbing.
And what was I doing accepting his proposal? Now I have to live with it. And I’m not allowed to mention the war..

I did a degree in English Literature many, many, many moons ago. I don't actually remember much about what I studied but I did a course in deconstructing fairy tales (I really did and yes...WHAT a waste of time) and they are ALL really macabre metaphors for unpleasantness in general...horror flicks have nothing on them... katherine’s last blog post..Dummy Mummy?
